Werkraum Bregenzerwald
(wb) The werkraum bregenzerwald organisation derives ultimately from an ancient craftworking tradition. In former centuries, craftworker cooperatives were organised as guilds, and were already active even far beyond their home region. More recently they developed into modern-style, technologically oriented businesses. Then the formation of the werkraum in 1999 created an up-to-the-minute new type of cooperative organisation. The werkraum arranges exhibitions and competitions. It devotes its main energies to training (including continuing professional development), to research and development, and to showcasing the latest developments in craftwork.
The reconstruction of the Gasthof Krone in 2007 was undertaken in close collaboration with werkraum bregenzerwald. An essential role in the work was played by werkraum-affiliated businesses, as can be seen and indeed touched and felt by our guests. The Krone was given its present face by carpenters, joiners, plumbers, a blacksmith and floor-laying specialists, all from the local region.
