The Krone Family
The family at the Krone is more than the sum of managing couple plus staff. Honesty, authenticity, identity: that is what it comes down to, that is the Krone’s essence. The Krone family consists of the Natters and the Nussbaumers and their largely local and unfailingly loyal crew, the Krone staff. Bregenzerwald folk to the core (whether by birth or by choice), these are the men and women who keep the Krone running sweetly. They know the local countryside like the back of their hand. They know what they respect, and their respect is based on knowledge.
The “Krone family” is no mere metaphor. It is also a real family, in a sense which comes across most vividly at the daily midday meal. There they all are, sitting round the table: Wilma, Herbert, Helene, Dietmar, Beate, Manfred, Stefanie and all the others, from kitchen, household, reception. They eat together, discuss, laugh and plan together, tot up costs, enjoy each other’s company. That half hour is sacred – as might be noticed if one has happened just then to order a schnitzel ...
