The Krone’s History
The Gasthof Krone was built in 1837 for Conrad Bechter – after whom the Bechterstube is named. His concept was a district courthouse combined with an inn. The politics of the time put a stop to the courthouse plan – but the inn, happily, is still with us today, its guests detained only by their own reluctance to leave!
In 1930 it was sold by its then owner, the “Post” in Bezau, to brothers Walter and Otto Natter. And now, three generations on, the Krone is in the hands of Helene and Dietmar Nussbaumer-Natter and is a hotel for our modern age. Rich in history, and rich in lore dating back to the distant past, yet pointing forward far into the future.
